Don't Get Lost in the Haze: Things to Consider Before Providing Services to Medical Marijuana Related Entities.

Stephen King, JD,
Director, Regulatory Compliance Services,
Wolf & Company, P.C.

As more states have legalized and decriminalized marijuana use, medical marijuana dispensaries and related entities have displayed a growing need for financial services. Many institutions believe this sector holds high growth potential, but the framework of laws and guidance complicates the matter. While it may not be right for your institution, it’s worth a bit of dialogue. Join us to learn more about the strategic conversations you should be having with your senior management.

Train the Trainer: Preventing Elder Financial Exploitation

Jenefer Duane,CFPB Office for Older Americans
Deborah Royster, General Counsel to the District of Columbia Office on Aging
Naomi Karp, CFPB Office for Older Americans

This is perhaps the highest value seminar we have ever offered.

Please join us for a dynamic train-the-trainer program on how to raise awareness of elder financial exploitation using the Money Smart for Older Adults: Prevent Elder Financial Exploitation curriculum in your community. The program, developed by the CFPB Office for Older Americans and the FDIC, is endorsed by NCUA.

The training will include an overview of the curriculum with a focus on common frauds, scams and other forms of financial exploitation that target older adults. The speakers will provide participants with in-depth information on cognitive impairment and financial decision making; abuse by persons with a power-of-attorney; and a segment on investment fraud including senior certifications and designations used by “financial advisors.” The session will also cover best practices for collaboration with local aging network stakeholders; planning effective presentations for older adults and family caregivers; and speaker presentation skills. An interactive breakout session will explore next steps for taking this information back to your community.

The speakers include Jenefer Duane, Senior Program Analyst, CFPB and Naomi Karp, Senior Policy Analyst of the CFPB, and Deborah Royster, General Counsel of the DC Office on Aging. Instructor guides and supplemental handouts will be provided.

Register now for the high-value workshop or share the information with someone at your credit union!
